Ontario's Feed In Tarrif (FIT)Program

 

In the fall of 2009, the Ontario government and the OPA (Ontario Power Authority) launched the Feed In Tariff Program - the single largest climate change initiative in North America.

This program is a government guaranteed funding structure that offers VERY attractive rates and stable, long term (20 yr) contracts for renewable energy generation.


ROOFTOP RATES: 10 kW or less = 80.2¢/kWh
10-100 kW = 71.2¢/kWh
100-500 kW = 63.5¢/kWh
more than 500kW = 53.9¢/kWh

GROUNDMOUNT: less than 10 MW = 44.2¢/kWh

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Once your system is installed you will get paid by the OPA (via your local electrical distributing company) a fixed premium rate for every kilowatt-hour of energy produced.

IS IT COMPLICATED?
No. The steps are outlined on the OPA's website. There is some red tape, as is to be expected! By purchasing your system through ProQuip, you have the added benefit of a facilitated process.
